If you consistently leave things to the last minute, eventually you're going to come up short and miss your deadline. After kicking Nick Writes off by having the first few posts ready in advance, I fell into the habit of leaving them for Tuesday night. And I hit my deadlines. So I got cocky.
Tonight, I sat on the highway for a solid hour and traveled only a half mile, because up ahead, a tractor trailer was overturned. I then veered off onto a different highway and traveled through half-a-dozen Pennsylvania towns I'd never heard of before.
This is Tuesday's blog, written and posted on Wednesday. This is the inevitable outcome of leaving things to the last minute.
No matter how good you are at grinding things out in the nick of time, sometimes there's a fucking tractor trailer between you and a suitable writing instrument.
And with no time to spare, there isn't a damn thing you can do about it.
